How to use these unicorn coloring pages
Unicorn pages are an invitation to use every color in the box. Rainbow manes, starry skies and pastel castles have no "right" colors, which makes them great for building confidence in children who worry about getting coloring "wrong".
The set covers toddler-simple outlines through to a detailed portrait with a flower crown, so younger and older siblings can color unicorns side by side. Add glitter glue or gel pens at the end for extra sparkle.
Step by step: coloring a unicorn page
- Pick a palette: rainbow, pastel, or a night-sky theme with purples and blues.
- Color the body lightly (white paper is a valid choice), then add soft shading under the belly and neck.
- Color the mane and tail in sections, one color per strand, for a rainbow effect.
- Finish with the horn, the stars or flowers, and a little sparkle from gel pens or glitter.
Which pages suit which age?
- Ages 2–4
- Simple Unicorn for Toddlers and Baby Unicorn Sleeping on a Cloud have large areas and very few details.
- Ages 5–8
- Unicorn with Rainbow, Unicorn Under the Stars and Unicorn in a Flower Meadow add rainbows, stars and flowers to practice careful coloring.
- Ages 8+, teens and adults
- Unicorn Portrait with Flower Crown and Unicorn and Fairy-Tale Castle have many small areas in the mane and castle for pencils and blending.
Printing tips
- Glitter glue and gel pens work best on heavier paper (120 gsm+) so the page does not warp.
- Print two copies of the portrait: one to try a pastel palette, one for a bold rainbow palette.
- For party favors, print the toddler pages and roll them with a few crayons and a ribbon.
- Choose A4 outside North America and US Letter in the US and Canada. Both PDFs keep safe margins.
Coloring ideas & activities
- Rainbow order: color the mane in rainbow order (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) as a fun way to learn the sequence.
- Pastel only: use light pink, lavender, mint and baby blue for a soft dreamy look.
- Name your unicorn: write a name and one magic power at the bottom of the page.
- Night sky: on Unicorn Under the Stars, color the sky dark blue or purple and leave the stars white.
- Unicorn story: color the Unicorn and Fairy-Tale Castle and write or tell a short story about who lives in the castle.
- Party garland: color several unicorn heads, cut them out and string them up for a birthday.
